Datur sepulturae
Corpus Christi nobile spes vitae futurae,
Conditur[1] aromate, implentur scripturae.
Iugis[2] sit[3] memoria, mors est mihi curae.

The noble body of Christ, hope of future life,
is given to the grave.
It is treated with the sweet-smelling oil; the scriptures are fulfilled.
Let the memory be perpetual, this death is of concern to me.

[1] conditur] conditor D-Mbs 3154, C

[2] iugis] iugi D-Mbs 3154, C

[3] sit] sic D-Mbs 3154, C

This edition is based on D-Mbs 3154, f. 48v. The text of this last motet of the cycle was emended in three places: in line 3 the incorrect ‘conditor’ (‘creator’) was corrected to ‘conditur’ (‘is treated’); in line 4 ‘iugi’ was changed to ‘iugis’ and ‘sic’ to ‘sit’. For further comments see the General commentary.
